A Bachelor of Science in Hospitality, Tourism, and Event Management is a part of the Department of Animal Science, Food and Nutrition through the College of Agricultural Sciences. The program provides educational, research, and service activities to prepare students to work in hospitality and tourism careers. The program incorporates various disciplines that address ongoing issues and needs of the industry. A total of 120 credit hours are needed for completion of the degree. The courses include Introduction to Hospitality and Tourism, Food Service Sanitation, Introduction to Event Coordination, Hotel Administration, Destination Management, Quality Food Production, Food and Labor Cost Control, Hospitality Human Resources, Hospitality Marketing Management, Service Organization and Management, Convention Management and Services, and Hospitality Facilities Management.
The Minor in Hospitality, Tourism, and Event Management provides an overview of the field. It requires the completion of 16 credit hours. The courses include Introduction to Hospitality and Tourism, Food Service Sanitation, Introduction Event Coordination, Hotel Administration, Hospitality Managerial Accounting, Destination Management, Quality Food Production, Food and Labor Cost Control, and Hospitality Facilities Management.
The Master of Science in Food and Nutrition with a concentration in Hospitality and Tourism Administration is a multidisciplinary program that explores fundamental principles, analytical procedures, and management practices related to the hospitality and tourism industry. Students study the farm-to-plate model and utilize strong academic, communication, and analytical abilities. At least 36 credit hours are needed to complete the program. The courses include Readings in Hospitality and Tourism, Hospitality Managerial Accounting, Advanced Hospitality Marketing Management, Service Organization and Management, Individual Research, and Inferential Statistics.
The professional development sequence in Event Planning and Management is designed to enhance students’ job marketability. Students gain specialized abilities, knowledge, and training. The program is offered through the Office of Distance Education and Off Campus Programs. It is a one-year online program and requires the completion of 18 credit hours. The required courses include Introduction to Professional Event Coordination, Trade Show Management, Event Entertainment and Production, Sports Event Management, Event Marketing and Sponsorship, and Event Risk Management and Safety. At the end of the program, students will have a non-degree diploma.
The professional development sequence in Food and Beverage Management provides students with an overview of food and beverage operations. Students gain opportunities for learning while working and improve workplace opportunities. A total of 18 credit hours are needed to complete the online one-year program. The courses include Food Service Sanitation, Beverage Management, Quantity Food Production, Food and Labor Cost Control, Hospitality Human Resources, and Capstone.

Federal Work-Study
The Federal Work-Study is a federally funded program that provides job opportunities to students who demonstrate a financial need. Students are able to work part-time both on and off-campus. A maximum of 20 hours per week is allowed while students are taking classes. The program encourages students to pursue jobs that are related to their future career fields.
