Arkansas Tech University is a public institution that was founded in 1909. It is located in a rural setting, and is situated on a campus that spans 559 acres. The U.S. News and World Report 2014 edition of Best Colleges ranks Arkansas Tech University as Regional Universities (South), Tier II.

Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Administration

The Hospitality Administration program at ATU was the first in the state to offer a baccalaureate program and is still considered to be the most comprehensive. It is recognized as one of the top ten academic programs in the university. Students seeking the Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Administration at ATU pick the emphasis that will prepare them for their future careers. Choices for degree emphasis are Food and Beverage Management, Lodging and Club Management and Tourism and Event Management.
Graduates are prepared to enter managerial positions in hospitality and tourism, which is currently the fastest growing industry in the country. NorthWest Arkansas Community College

Culinary/Hospitality Department

NorthWest Arkansas Community College (NWACC) was founded in 1989 and is one of the fastest growing colleges in the state. Classes are offered online and on site. The main campus is Bentonville, but classes are also offered during the day or evening in learning centers throughout Benton and Washington counties. The school offers small classes with approximately 20 students each and computer labs with state-of-the-art equipment.
The Culinary/Hospitality programs at NWACC are constantly changing. They want to prepare their students for the ever expanding job market. Students here will learn the fundamentals they need for their future.

Associate of Applied Science Options in Culinary Arts – Option in Hospitality Management

To earn this degree, students spend two years in classroom studies including 15 credits in residence and a final semester in an internship. Studying here will prepare students for a variety of careers, including food sales and marketing, owning a restaurant or hotel management. Core classes include supervisory management, hospitality purchasing and management, introduction to event planning, travel and tourism, nutrition for food service and beverage management. Students will complete 60 credit hours inclusive of their internship. The hospitality and culinary programs at NWACC have a variety of exciting internship options for their students. Internships are offered by many of the best eating and lodging establishments in the area. Faculty work directly with the students to find the best possible internship.

Pulaski Technical College

Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management

Founded in 1945, Pulaski Technical College is currently the largest two year college in the state of Arkansas. What began as a vocational technical school became a technical college in 1991. PTC is accredited with the Academic Quality Improvement Program (AQIP) by the Higher Learning Commission (HLP).
In 2013, the PTC Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management program was awarded exemplary status from the American Culinary Federation Education Foundation Accrediting Commission. This award is given to programs which demonstrate the highest educational standards. The program has proven to be in full compliance with requirements for ACFEFAC accreditation and also exhibits excellent program management.

Hospitality Management Associate of Applied Science

To earn the Associate of Applied Science in Hospitality Management degree, students need to complete 66 credit hours. The focus of the department is in providing an overview of the hospitality industry, then concentrating on areas such as tourism, food services, lodging and business management. The faculty pride themselves on challenging students with hands-on experience as they learn in world-class training centers. Students are trained in culinary arts, hospitality, and baking and pastry making. This institution has a strong student-centered approach.
Graduates are prepared for employment as middle managers within the hospitality/tourism industry. Upon completion of the program, students receive the “Certified Hospitality Graduate” certificate and are prepared to work in resorts, restaurants, contract services, lodging or theme parks.
The Hospitality Management program is accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Programs in Hospitality (ACPHA).

Dale Bumpers College of Agricultural, Food and Life Sciences

School of Human Environmental Sciences

The University of Arkansas, the first public university in the state, was founded in 1871. Today the school is known for being one of the top producers of Goldwater Scholars every year since 2005. It is also known for the public service provided to every county within the state, across the United States and even around the world.
The faculty of Bumpers College strive to encourage the development of students’ intellectual and technical knowledge in ways that encourage environmentally and ethically responsible behaviors in service to others. The goal is to produce future leaders who utilize communication skills and problem-solving abilities honed during their studies at the university.

Bachelor of Science in Human Environmental Sciences, Hospitality and Restaurant Management Major

Students pursuing their Bachelor of Science under the Hospitality and Restaurant Management major take classes in The Inn at Carnall Hall, located on the University of Arkansas campus. This major will prepare the students for hospitality industry careers and will require 120 credit hours for graduation. They may choose to work in areas such as food service management, restaurant or hospitality management, recreation/resort management, tourism management or even hotel management.
